The new Ford Focus RS

The new Ford Focus RS For every rally-driver wannabe, your waiting is over, because the company Ford just have released the concept of the new model Focus RS this year. With many tempting features fitted in this city car, including all-wheel drive and similar four-cylinder 315 horsepower EcoBoost engine going in the new Mustang, this Ford Focus RS is giving us a lot of promises for perfect performance and being the most potent standard version so far for Ford’s performance division.

There is no doubt this Ford’s next generation Focus is a rocket ship and this makes it even more exciting for us, because who’ve guessed the powerful engine would be fitted in this car, capable to deliver 0 to 60 mph time of under five seconds! The new engine “borrowed” from Mustang comes with a new low-inertia twin-scroll turbocharger and a bigger intercooler matched with the revised cylinder head and stronger cast-iron cylinder lines. In addition, the all-wheel system includes a torque-vectoring function with twin electronically controlled clutch packs on either side and for managing the front-to-rear torque distribution, the clutch packs can divert power from side to side across the rear axle to reduce the understeer.

Compared to the previous Ford Focus ST, Focus RS has springs, bushings and anti-roll bars that are all stiffer. In order to match the perfect performance of Focus RS Michelin has designed and developed specific tires and you can choose between Pilot Super Sport rubber and Pilot Sport Cups.

Styling-wise, the new Ford Focus RT comes with way more aggressive, extreme and bold exterior that any other Ford model before. With a chunky rear spoiler, a sizeable diffuser, plus cooling ducts for the engine and brakes, deliver downforce. The changes in the interior come with the Recaro sports seats, the flat-bottomed steering wheel, alloy pedals and also a simple centre console.

Rumors say that the Ford company plans to release the new Focus in four colors so far – Nitrous Blue, Stealth Blue, Absolute Black and Frozen White, so you won’t have plenty of choice, however you have classic options, which will also make it easier for you to re-sell the car on the used car market later one, but this is way too far in the future, so we won’t talk about it now.

Although the first two new generations of Ford Focus RS were available only on the European market, the manufacturer promises that this would be the first Ford Focus RS debut in the USA. Plans are the car will be built in the company’s Saarlouis plant in Germany and the production is set to start by the end of the year, so you can prepare for the new RS in showrooms sometime next year. The expected price is around £30,000, although Ford’s strongest power is keeping the audience expecting and wondering.
